There are many simple things you can do to get rid of the headache without a visit to the doctor. Try all these steps and get to feeling better fast.
- Rest in a quiet, dark room.
- Hot or cold compresses to your head or neck.
- Massage and small amounts of caffeine.
Ease or Reduce Pressure on Your Head:
If your ponytail is too tight and rigid then it could cause a headache. These little but long term external pressure headaches can also be brought on by wearing a headband, hair catches, hats, or even the swimming goggles that are too tight.
Dim the Lights:
Bright or glistening light also from your mobile or computer screen can cause migraine headaches. If you are disposed to them, cover your windows with faint curtains during the day. Wear sunglasses to go outside. You may also put anti-glare screens to your computer screen and use daylight spectrum glowing bulbs in your light equipments.
Try a Cold Pack:
If you face a headache or migraine then place a cold pack on your forehead to soothe your head. Small ice cubes wrapped in a bag or a towel or even a cold shower may reduce the pain. Keep the compress with hands on your head at least for fifteen minutes, and then take a break for fifteen minutes.
Use a Heating Pad or Hot Compress:
If you have a tension of headache, put a heating pad on your neck or the back of your head. If you have a depressing headache then holds a warm cloth to the area that hurts. A warm shower might also do the best.
Get Some Caffeine:

You should drink plenty of liquids because one of the reasons of headache is a dehydration that is due to severe deficiency of water.

A small recent study showed that taking ginger in addition to regular pain relieving tablets is much better for headache or migraines. You can try a ginger supplement or take some tea of ginger.
